26th February Tuesday 2019 Dramas:

Beti (ARY) IDream Entertainment

The last episode of Beti finally aired tonight after such a long wait and what an episode it was! We can safely say at this point that this was a stellar end for the drama and Beti is for sure to be remembered for a long time.

The drama showed how Taimoor gradually began to turn against his own family, and this episode he finds out that Hashim and Shahana had sold Mariam’s mother’s house for money and kept that money for themselves. Enraged at this betrayal and already shook by his own loss, Taimoor attempts to rob the house in disguise with some other men but the plan backfires and Hashim gets shot.

Taimoor gets arrested and put in jail whereas Hashim dies from the bullet shot before the doctors can save him. The funeral scene of Hashim was particularly poignant as we see Shahana slowly lose her mind at this loss. Naila gets increasingly annoyed that Azhar and Mariam are still married; when she finds Shahana in the lawn she tries to talk to her but Shahana who is already losing her mind pushes her to the ground. Naila loses her baby and begins to regret her behavior after this accident.

The only happy ending is for Mariam who gets a promotion and leaves for Dubai with her daughter. The ending showed that karma really does work against those who hurt others. Asma Abbas as Shahana really ended the drama with a bang and her acting really touched our hearts. But the star of the show is definitely Saheefa Jabbar Khattak who we hope to see more of in future dramas as she really showed her acting prowess in Beti!

Kam Zarf (GEO) Mastermind Productions

Mona starts to develop feelings for her classmate Nouman while Asim and Faria decide they want to marry each other despite the opposition from Aima! Clearly, the younger siblings of Kam Zarf are more than just secondary characters as this episode mostly revolved around them fighting for their own place in the house.

Fozia’s character also showed major development  when she decided she had had enough of Azar and takes a major step by walking away from that marriage. We are not shown what will happen or what Azar will do since the entire time Azar remains sullen as always, but Aima certainly will not let this happen so easily! We like that Mona and Asim are coming into the spotlight more since they are our personal favorites!

It appears that Paras’ character is here for good since Haris also refuses to let her go despite being married. He continues returning to her even when Warda expresses discontentment with the way he has been treating her in this marriage.

The only refuge Warda has is with Osama who accompanies her everywhere now, from her house to even her work. Their friendship begins to grow even more and even Haris begins to suspect something this episode.

There are hints of a love interest between Osama and Warda’s sister but that is not revealed as of yet. It will be interesting to see how Warda will react to the presence of Paras when she finally finds out because right now she is in the dark about Haris’ character. The story has come to a stagnant point here but we hope it develops and progresses more.

Our winner is Beti with a last episode that we are sure to return to for a second watch! Throughout its time on air, Beti has maintained a constant level of production quality and even though at times it got a tad bit stereotypical, by the end of it we were reminded once again of the important social issue it was trying to raise. We are glad such dramas are becoming more often aired on televisions now and we hope to see more like Beti in the future! Kam Zarf falls second but from here onwards it seems this will be our primary choice. The drama is definitely worth checking out!
