21 February Thursday 2019 dramas:
While Koi Chand Rakh has left a huge gap on Thursdays, we still have two excellent dramas Aangan and Baba Jani left to entertain us. And this week’s episodes of both dramas certainly did their jobs! Both had exciting new revelations and shocking developments in store and we’re going to share those with you today and see how each drama fared in terms of quality and rating.
Aangan (Hum Tv) MD Productions
The drama has picked its paced up all of a sudden and
treated us with a stellar episode this week! The first very crucial development
is the suicide of Kusum, which affects Alia a lot since she had been so close
to her. But Tehmina is getting married to Jamil in a rush and no one has time
to focus on that death. While they’re getting married, the only person unhappy
is Chammi who really tries to hold herself together and puts on a brave face in
front of everyone else. Tehmina gets a letter from Safdar, but her decision to
kill herself is already made and she does so on her wedding night which comes
as a shock to the family as well as the audience. Of course this is all going
to mentally influence Alia who’s young and impressionable. While the suicide is
hidden from her initially, she finally figures out that her sister has killed
herself. For me, the highlight of this episode was Mawra Hocane and Sajal Aly.
Both have such distinct ways of expressing their grief but we enjoyed them
nevertheless. The two suicides did seem extremely rushed and it would have been
much more impactful if it had been divided over the course of two episodes so
the effects of each could be explore in more detail. Be that as it may, the
episode was overall a very exciting one and has us anticipating the next one!
Baba Jani (Geo Tv) Connect Studios
Haroon, Mehwish’s previous husband, seems to be back for
good and set on ruining their lives. Nimra already does not get along with
Mehwish since she suspects her of snitching to Asfand about Umair. But Mehwish
is already wrapped up in Haroon blackmailing her for money in exchange for his
silence. Initially, she plans on keeping it hidden from Asfand but Mehwish’s
mother tells Asfand in order to help her. Asfand visits Haroon secretly to find
out more but for now Mehwish does not know of this. However, Nimra does since
she overhears Haroon and Mehwish; it will be interesting to see how this will
affect her relationship with Mehwish. Najeeba also gets a dose of reality from
her husband Zahoor Ilahi who tells her the truth about her nature and how she
should stop being so selfish. It hinted at the fact that Najeeba’s character
might change for the better in the future. While Haroon’s character and the
plotline is not the most favorite of all, it does aid in developing the
characters of Mehwish and Asfand more. We will have to wait and see whether
this will help improving the drama’s quality or not.
While the absence of Koi Chand Rakh is felt by all of us,
the winner of this week is Aangan and it makes up for the absence with its
thrilling storyline that has really increased its pace. Whether this will be
sustained throughout the drama is something we’ll have to wait and see but for
now, we like how the characters have been going. In particular, Alia and Chammi
are our favorites! Baba Jani too is killing it with their engrossing new story
arc and we hope that it develops further.
