31 January Thursday 2019 Dramas
Thursdays are truly the best day of the week for dramas!
Aangan, Koi Chand Rakh and Baba Jani are all top-notch dramas and the ones that
majority are watching these days. Their unique combination of distinctive
filming style and storytelling method makes them a force to be reckoned with in
their own right. The best part is that they have managed to sustain the same
level of interest from the audience throughout the time they have aired on
television. What is it about these particular dramas that makes us so fond of
Aangan (Hum Tv) MD Productions
We return to Mazhar’s family to witness an interesting turn of events; Aaliya ends up going to a British school and her school principal comes over to visit her house. Her mother goes all out to welcome the principal but Mazhar’s hatred for the British colonialists leads to him escaping the house through different means. A crucial development was Mazhar telling Safdar to marry Tehmina and go to Aligarh University to study further. But as always, Mazhar’s wife interferes and throws a fit. Meanwhile, things are lighter in Azhar’s household with Chammi’s lively character. In fact, Chammi has become what we look forward to in every episode because she is far more captivating and entertaining than any other character. Sajal Aly is a hugely talented actor who is ruling as the queen of our hearts. The drama is certainly picking up its pace and introducing major plot lines that will develop into something bigger as time goes by. But for now we hope the director attempts to branch out more outside of Mazhar’s family.

The karma that had been coming for Nishaal finally hits her
this episode. Zayn begins to spend more time with his daughter Ujaala and realizes
he loves her, but it is too late as Rabail refuses to forgive him. Sadly,
Zayn’s mother passes away but this doesn’t stop Nishaal from being her usual
exasperating self. She continues to over think about Zayn and convinces herself
that he is cheating on her and so barges in to Zayn and his sister. At this
point in time it becomes clear Zayn is definitely having second thoughts about
Nishaal and his feelings for Rabail have definitely not died. The drama is
finally getting interesting again and the story is definitely one that has us
on the edge of our seats every time!
Baba Jani (Geo Tv) Connect Studios
Mehwish and Nimra finally find some middle ground and end
the passive-aggressive environment they were living in, but this obviously is
interpreted as an attack by the constantly self-obsessed Najiba and Naila.
Another ironic thing that happens is Najiba’s son Umair falling in love with
Nimra. As always, this is taken in the wrong sense by Najiba. It was a
heartwarming scene to see Mehwish and Nimra get along well and the flashback
Nimra has of her own mother Saadia. The placement of this scene was well-placed
and Madiha Imam’s acting has shined in these recent episodes. We’re glad such
young talent is getting the platform they deserve!
This is always the most difficult part for Thursday’s
dramas, especially considering the diversity of stories and actors. Koi Chand
Rakh leads the very narrow race this time as well, as its fast-paced and
thrilling storyline continues to grasp our attention. But Aangan and Baba Jani
both are close behind and certainly give Koi Chand Rakh some competition!
