Humayun Saeed starrer Jawani Phir Nahi Ani released back in 2015 had shattered multiple records. It was the first Pakistani film after 2013’s Waar to take a thunderous start and break each and every record.
Directed by Nadeem Baig, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani had opened with a bumper response. Despite first day being hit by Eid obligations in the morning, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani had registered second biggest opening day of all time after Furious 7 by collecting PKR 20.7 million. The film had then run riot on day two by collecting PKR 26.8 million followed by PKR 27 million on day three.
On day three film had shattered all time single day record held by Furious 7. Furthermore, film also broke the opening weekend record held by Furious 7. Film then saw unbelievable hold on Monday by collecting close to PKR 20 million. The film’s Monday numbers back in 2015 were more than most film’s opening days and only three films had better opening numbers then the Monday numbers of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani.
The film then went on to collect around PKR 150 million in its opening week becoming first film of its time to hit 150 million mark in opening week. The film then also shattered week two and three records and went on to beat lifetime record held by Fast & Furious 7 at PKR 251 million. Humayun Saeed starrer didn’t stop there as it also became first film in the history to hit PKR 300 million mark. It ended its run at PKR 340 million and is till date 5th highest grossing film of all time.
The lifetime boxoffice record of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani stood for two years when same director-actor’s film Punjab Nahi Jaungi broke the all time lifetime record by becoming first film to hit PKR 350 million.
