Disney’s The Lion King has taken a bumper start at the boxoffice in North America. After bringing in a huge $ 23m from Thursday previews, The Lion King has now fetched a thumping $ 78.5m on Friday making into top 10 all time opening days in North America.
The Lion King is the only second July release in top 10 opening days after Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2. The last part of the J.K. Rowling’s world had drawn $ 91m on its opening day and stands at number 5 in all time opening days.
The Lion King’s stupendous start on day one indicates that the film is heading towards a massive $ 190+m opening Weekend. That would make it 8th biggest opening weekend of all time and second biggest opening weekend of the year only behind Avengers: Endgame.
