Rajat Kapoor, a prominent name of the Indian film industry is coming to Pakistan. Rajat Kapoor dons the various hats of an actor, director and a writer. He was lately seen in films such as Kapoor & sons, Mulk, Pari, Drishyam and others.
India imposed a ban on Pakistani artists following heightened tensions between the nations in 2016. People to people contact is extremely important as congenial relations between artists and artistic collaborations will prove to be fruitful for both the nations. Pakistan has been graceful about hosting and cordially welcoming Indian artists following the ban.
More prominently on the occasion of Shan-e-Pakistan, Rakesh Sabarwal, veteran actress Zeenat Iman, both the director S.S. Rajamouli and producer of Bahubali have visited Pakistan.
Rekha Bhardwaj, Vishal Bhardwaj, Director of Jolly LLb Subhash Kapoor, Anjum Rajabali, Naseeruddin, Vinay Pathak, Nandita Das attended a film festival in Pakistan headed by Harsh Narayan, a peace activist.
Moreover, Javed Akthar and Shabana Azmi visited Lahore to attend Faiz Mela whereas Juhi Chawla has also visited Pakistan for personal reasons.
Artists do not believe in limiting or imposing a ban on exchange of art and artists. The creative intelligentsia on both sides of the border believes in collaboration and allowing creative freedom to thrive. Hopefully, after India’s elections, matters will amend and both the nations will find it in their hearts to host each other.
