Box office performance of Simmba

The Ranveer Singh starrer hit the cinemas today. The film has been helmed by Rohit Shetty, a director prominently known for making Masala films. The film has been produced by Karan Johar.

Ranveer Singh plays  Bhalerao Sangram aka Simmba and the film centers upon the character’s transition from a person who is only motivated by his own benefit to someone who fights for justice. He becomes a cop for the sake of making easy money but soon develops a conscience.

Simmba is a Hindi remake of Telugu movie Temper. The film also stars Sara Ali Khan in the lead. The film has garnered a lot of hype and attention on social media on its day 1 in India. Prominent Indian film critic and unarguably one of the most popular ones of India, Taran Adarsh has given the film 4 stars. Taran Adarsh previously gave 2 stars to Aamir Khan starrer, Thugs of Hindostan  and 1.5 stars to Shahrukh Khan’s recent release Zero.


Taran Adarsh further sang praises for the film.



In addition, prominent leading Indian Websites gave decent stars to the film as well. It seems the film is being much loved in India.

Times of India gave the film a 3.5 stars.

HindustanTimes gave it 3 stars.

ZoomTv gave Simmba a 3 stars


With such reviews, the film is likely to do a good business in India however it will need to see a grand opening day in Pakistan in order to sustain. As it is an action film and action films tend to make good gains only on the first 2-3 days, therefore this action packed masala film is depending upon its first day here! Previously Ranveer Singh starrer, Padmavaat managed to make approx 1.9 cr in Pakistan on its opening day, while becoming the 10th Indian highest grosser of all time in Pakistan.

Many people have said that Padmavaat’s success had many factors contributing to it than just Ranveer Singh’s presence and argue that Ranveer Singh does not have that much of a star power here in Pakistan. Well, lets see how Simmba performs here!
