Famous French photographers, Roland & Sabrina Michaud, published this beautiful picture of Pakistani Ghazal and folk singer Tahira Syed in their book Mirror of the orient. This was later published in National geographic in 1985.

Tahira Syed is a legendary folk singer who has famous songs “Yeh Alam Shauq Ka Dekha na Jaey”, “Chanjar Phabdi Na Mutiar Bina” and “Abhi Tau Main Jawan Houn”, written by Pakistani poet Hafeez Jalandhri to her credits.

The melodious singer continues to perform at diverse events such as a “ghazal evening” in Dallas, U.S, a tribute to Faiz Ahmed Faiz in Philadelphia, U.S and at the Faiz International Festival in Lahore.

She received the Pakistan Television Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Pride of Performance Award from the President of Pakistan on 23 March 2013. In 1972, she also won the Nigar Award for the Best Female Playback Singer.
