Manikarnika, The queen of Jhansi is a Kangana Ranaut starrer which is slated for release on 25th January, 2019. The film is based on the historical period drama of Jhansi ke rani, Lakshmi. The film has been directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and Kangana Ranaut, herself.
Kangana plays a headstrong woman, who is the queen, a mother and a warrior. We see her indulged in sword fights. She wages war against the British Raj as they take over her kingdom. The movie revolves around seeking independence from the British and protecting the throne of Jhansi. Throughout the trailer, we only hear the British but don’t really see the main antagonist. The antagonist doesn’t come across as too powerful while the character of Manikarnika is depicted as a very courageous lady and a skilled fighter.
The film also stars Danny Denzongpa, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Jisshu Sengupta, Atul Kulkarni and others. Kangana Ranaut is granted most of the screen time. The actress looks bewitching in her avatar. While some scenes are convincing, others are have bad graphics. The sets are and costumes are fitting while the storyline seems to have substance. We will have to watch this film to give a final verdict on this one!
