Fast & Furious is by far the biggest film franchise in Pakistan. Whenever a film from Fast & Furious has released, it has taken boxoffice by a storm and has broken all existing records. Furious 7 released back in 2015 had created new opening records in Pakistan by leaps and bounds. Furious 7 was for the first time in history that all time highest grossing title went to an English film. Furious 7 had collected little over PKR 250 million before end of its run and still stands tall as third highest grossing English film of all time.
Two years later, Fast 8 battered boxoffice records of Furious 7 by huge lead. Film went on to break records of Furious 7 and became highest grossing English film of it’s time. Fast 8 still stands high as the second highest grossing English film of all time in Pakistan with a staggering PKR 267 million. Hobbs and Shaw now releasing two years later is not a direct part of the franchise rather it is a spin off and it has released in a pre Eid season yet it has opened with a bang.
Hobbs and Shaw despite hit by pre Eid season has manged to hit PKR 100 million in five days. Whereas Fast 8 had managed to go over PKR 120 million in five. Hobbs and Shaw is looking at opening week over PKR 120 million whereas Fast 8 had gone close to PKR 150 million in opening week.
