Haiwan is an intense story of an unforgivable sin that leads to a lifetime of guilt and regret.

Last episode had us turning and tossing in our chairs as the shocking revelation dawns upon us that a dead body is found from Hameed’s lawn. We all saw this coming and were anticipating the shocking turn of events that were going to happen after this incident. We see now that the drama serial and its story has reached to the peak of its conflict and now it is turning towards its resolve but it turns out that it still has more layers for us to unfold.

The episode starts as every single character is caught in the turmoil of unexpected shock and disbelief. Azra is seen the least affected by it as she refuses to believe that it is her daughter who has been found from the ditch but slowly she comes to believe the calamity that has befallen on her. We see her as the epitome of courage when she says, “Dubara pagal nhin ho jaun gi. Halat se larna seekh liya he mene. Wohi taqat jama kar rahi hun”

This episode is a roller coaster of emotions for everyone who even has an ounce of empathy. Azra’s monologue reflect the truest state of a mother’s mind who has lost all hope of finding any happiness. On the other hand, we see Kulsum, she is caught in the anxious stress of the calamity as well. Sawera is also seen having problems in her marriage which adds the side story of the serial.

The episode reaches its peak when the police inspector identifies the dead body as Masooma’s and we come to know that she choked to death after being raped and everyone just loses themselves to pain and starts having emotional breakdowns, the tone and music of the scene is breathtakingly effective.

On Masooma’s funeral, Azra’s desperation is depicted as she says “Ab kabhi intazar nhin karun gi Masooma Ka. Ab tou Intazar bhi khatam ho gaya” This episode raises the question of sexual assault pretty intensely and wraps the story around the issue very closely. It also sheds light on the reaction and cruelty of the society regarding rape.

A very powerful drama indeed. Let’s see what else does the story has to offer in its next episode. What do you think of the drama? Let us know in the comments.
