Dharma Productions was reeling in the roaring success of Simmba and Raazi in 2018. Furthermore, Dhadak became a huge blockbuster on Television. However, 2019 hasn’t been a good year for Karan Johar so far. First release of 2019, Kesari started off with decent collections of 144 crores approx till now from India.
Kesari was made on a budget of 126 crores approx hence making it a low grosser at the boxoffice. However, things turned even worse for Karan Johar after Kesari. Made at a budget of 80 crores approx, Kalank opened well, but nosedived only after its first day. Film crashed on Monday. The Film has collected a mere 66 crores approx in six days and will probably wrap up far below the 100 crores mark.
Kalank had an ensemble cast however it turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments for Karan Johar. Looks like 2019 isn’t going well for the ace producer and director so far. The next film of Dharma Production is Student Of The Year 2. Its the sequel of Karan Johar’s directorial Student Of The Year but this time we will see Punit Malhotra in director’s chair. The film releases worldwide on 10 May, 2019.
