The drama taps into the issue of workplace harassment that has not been highlighted in dramas lately. Imran Abbas puts up a good charade of a good husband who means well and loves his wife , who is a lot older than him. He fools his wife into believing him, while he goes around flirting with others.
Sana on the other hand plays Afreen, she belongs to a poor family who has to work to make ends meet. Her older sister is a divorced whereas her brothers are involved in their own affairs. Her older sister has grown bitter due to her divorce and bad experience. Because of which she ruins the mood of the entire house.
Afreen works in Shahwaiz’s office who repeatedly makes advances towards her. She isn’t afraid to confront him in front of other people. Besides harassment the drama also highlights stereotypes and double standards of our society.
Afreen’s brother is involved with some girl, however he gets mad when she comes home with an office colleague. Afreen is outspoken and doesn’t shy away from speaking the truth. Sana has been given a strong character who wouldn’t go down without a fight.
The drama has been made on a very important issue and it can prove to be a very good one if the issue is handled tactfully. The first episode has established the characters and the role they will be playing in the drama. The pacing of the first episode was very good and characters were introduced in a nice way.
Imran Abbas’s performance was excellent, and it will be interesting to see him in this avatar. Although he had a negative arc in Koi Chnad Rakh as well, but Zain was of good character. However in Dar Khuda Sy, he is an extremely negative and evil person who draws pleasure by being flirtatious with women.
Workplace harassment is a problem that is prevalent in our society and is often quiet down to avoid embarrassment. The drama is an attempt to educate people regarding this issue and the legal aid that is made available in such case. Like in the first episode of the drama Afreen informs Shahwaiz of the harassment law that exists in Pakistan.
