Khalil ur Rehman’s directorial Kaaf Kangana opened yesterday alongside Shamoon Abbasi’s Durj. The film had some star value as Sami Khan was back from the massive success of Wrong No 2 whereas the film is also written by Khalil Qamar who is the top notch writer in the entertainment industry of Pakistan.
The promos indicated a love story between an Indian girl and Pakistani boy. It was anticipated that this theme would give the film an initial push. However poor digital promotions and marketing has been a huge let down. As per early estimates, Kaaf Kangana has roped in PKR 1.9 million on day one which is a very low number compared to the expectation of the trade.
It was expected that Kaaf Kangana will have a pull at mass circuits due to its topic. So there should have been good influx of footfall at the small cities but it didn’t turn out to be true on day one. Once again the main reason behind this lack of footfall is the limited awareness about the film being released leading to poor response in small cities.
