EPK Weekend movie picks

This weekend is beginning a day early at the cinemas owing to Valentine Day! We have some really exciting movies coming to the cinemas, and hopefully it will end the dry spell at the box office!

1.Cold Pursuit

The Taken hero is back with a remake of a Norwegian film “In order of disappearance”. The film follows a snow plow driver (Liam Neeson) ,as he avenges the drug syndicate that he thinks killed his son. If you are looking for some action packed film is a good choice. The movie is expected to get better reception in major cities where audiences are familiar with Liam Neeson and his previous films.

2.Gully Boy

The Simmba boy is back in Zoya Akhtar’s directorial Gully Boy opposite Alia Bhatt. The film tells a story of an underdog who is striving to make it out of his circumstances and make a name for himself. Ranveer Singh has turned into a rapper for the role, and it is definitely really different from his Simmba avatar. The film is expected to get a big opening considering how well his previous movies have done. Early reviews coming in have been great, if you are looking for something different and fresh this could be it!

3.Happy Death Day 2 U

This one is a comedy, horror, thriller movie is where the protagonist Tree Gelbman (Rothe) discovers that dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead. The trailer shows twisted set of events and it is unclear if the movie will have a solid plot or not. But if you are thriller buff this 1 hour 40 minutes movie could be worth checking out. The film will probably not get good reception, and will be over shadowed by Gully Boy big time!

Check out the trailer here.

4.Kala Shah Kala

A Punjabi film is also releasing today. The film is about struggles of a dark skinned man who has trouble finding a suitor for himself owing to his skin tone. The role reversal is very interesting and looks like a complete entertaining film if you are into Punjabi films. The film will get better response in Punjab especially small cities.

Some of the films that have been carried over from previous weeks that can be an alternative if you are not interested in the new releases:

1.Alita Battle Angel

Sci-fi action film takes you through an epic adventure of a women who wakes up with no memory of her past. Alita is a robot with extremely high end technology. Directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameron this film has not done wonder at the box office so far, owing to flawed screenplay. The film has action and is a visual treat!

2.The Lego Movie 2 the Second Part

The sequel of Lego The movie bring back Emmet and Lucy who have been living the good life for five years until they are faced with a huge new threat: Lego Duplo invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than it can be rebuilt. This movie a total entertainer for children and a good activity for the weekend! The movie is 1 hour 36 minutes and has been rated U.

3.Manikarnika:

The Kangana Ranut starrer period film is a biopic of Queen of Jhansi. The film has taken off with a decent start at box office in Pakistan. This is a female-centric film, so if you are looking for some drama, history and a story about empowered women this is a good watch.
