Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame released last Week on 26th April in Pakistan. Film has taken a phenomenal start worldwide. Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans starrer has broken all opening records in almost all the territories worldwide.
Similarly, the film has embarked on a stunning response in Pakistan. The film has demolished every opening record in its opening Week. Disney’s grand finale drew an estimated collection of PKR 230 million in its opening week in Pakistan.
Salman Khan’s mega hit Sultan previously held each and every opening record prior to the release of Endgame. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Sultan released three years back on Eid ul Fitr. Sultan had toppled every opening record back then. Sultan’s records included opening day, weekend, week and single day records.
Avengers: Endgame has bulldozed every single opening record which was held by Sultan. Sultan was a holiday release and Eid had fallen on Wednesday back in 2016. Besides the festival release, Sultan had benefited from a five day long Weekend. At the same time, Avengers: Endgame had a non Holiday release. However, Endgame benefited from a wider release along with higher ticket prices.
Sultan had kicked off with PKR 211.5 million in its first week. Whereas Endgame broke that record as it took a smashing start with an estimated collection of PKR 230 million in its first seven days.
Avengers: Endgame got an uplift in the numbers over the Weekdays due to a Labor’s Day holiday on Wednesday. But the film’s weekdays trending was very similar to Sultan. Endgame’s numbers on Monday were similar to Sultan’s. Avengers: Endgame brought estimated PKR 20 million on its first Monday whereas Sultan had collected PKR 19 million on Monday. Even the numbers on Thursday for both the films were indistinguishable.
Sultan had concluded its run by accumulating over PKR 330 million. Now, Ramzan begins from Tuesday hence it will be interesting to see where Avengers: Endgame will end its run. It will also be exciting to see if Endgame can over take Sultan’s lifetime numbers or not.
