14th March Thursday 2019 Dramas: Aangan Vs Hania Vs Mera Rab Waris
Hania and Mera Rab Waris have proven themselves as excellent dramas in merely weeks of airing. This week we see a lot happen in these three dramas and hints of exciting things coming up in future episodes!

Aangan (Hum Tv) MD Productions
With Mazhar still in jail for 7 years and counting, the lives of the characters involved still has not changed all that much. Jamil is in love with Alia and confesses to her, but Alia composes herself and does her best to stay away from such attachments despite her obvious feelings for Jamil.
Chammi watches all of this happen and acts out irrationally since she is unable to express her pain. The episode did not have much going on in it and a few aspects were dragged out really long to the point that repetition occurred frequently in dialogues as well as actions.
Alia and Chammi were the saving grace as always, specially Chammi’s character and the way she deals with her pain is worth watching. In comparison to the beginning of this storyline, it has become too convoluted yet simplified since there are so many blatant themes to explore yet the characters ignore them and focus on minute things.

The background of the drama is completely ignored except in pieces to further the story but the focus which is the romance and drama is really not as interesting anymore. It seems the Partition period time was only adopted for the aesthetic and not for an impactful script, which is really disappointing to see. We hope that Alia and Chammi’s characters are not ruined like the others and more focus is made on the actual historical context of the play.
Hania (ARY) Six Sigma Production
Hania begins to get suspicious of Vohra and the way he behaves around her and tries to complain to Junaid. The latter, already wary of Hania’s father poking his nose in the family business, warns Hania to stay out of his matters.
Junaid’s bipolar attitude is particularly highlighted this episode as he shifts in and out of good and bad moods. Hania is unable to handle this and begins to be afraid of him. Ahsan, Hania’s father, already knows something is up with Junaid’s family and their business and is investigating it when he falls ill all of a sudden.

While Junaid, Vohra and Junaid’s parents are conspiring how to keep Hania silent, Hania goes to her father without telling Junaid. Until now, the story has been interesting and doesn’t seem scattered. It is well-written although the acting leaves something to be desired. But in the end Hania is entertaining to watch and hopefully the same quality will be maintained throughout.
Mera Rab Waris (Geo Tv) 7th Sky Entertainment
In Mera Rab Waris, Haris and his family come to Ayesha’s house to ask for her hand but they do not know (except Haris’ father) the fact that Ayesha chooses to wear the burqa. When they meet her, they are immediately shocked and it is obvious how judgmental they are.
Ayesha however maintains a positive composure and even falls in love with Haris although he does not even see her. But while Ayesha is ecstatic over this, Haris and his family are not and they refuse to let Haris marry such a conservative girl.

Only Haris’ father is supporting Ayesha but for now the family is opposing this marriage. Ayesha, who is such a sweet and caring girl, is going to get a rude awakening when she faces this kind of ignorance and judgment but it is quite predictable what is going to happen. That is perhaps the drama’s biggest and only flaw, that it is pretty predictable. But that doesn’t take away from its well-written plot and good acting!
Already having a strong star-studded cast, Aangan has been doing well but it is Mera Rab Waris which has become the chart topper now! Starring Danish Taimoor and Madiha Imam, the drama has rightly prevailed because of Danish Taimoor’s charm, Madiha Imam’s fine acting and its intriguing storyline.
