Universal’s Fast 9 is one of the most awaited upcoming film for the next year in Pakistan. Fast and Furious is easily the biggest film brand in Pakistan and whenever a film from Fast and Furious series has released it has taken the whole boxoffice by storm creating new benchmarks for English films.

An English film has never been able to become highest grossing film in Pakistan except Fast 7. Release way back in 2015, Fast and Furious 7 had held the record of highest grossing film in Pakistan. Currently, among top 5 all time grossing English films three spots belong to Fast and Furious series which speaks of the popularity and brand value of Fast and Furious series.

Ninth installment of the franchise is all set to release next year on Eid ul Fitr and is the perfect release timing. Last installment came back in 2017 and roped in PKR 267 million and three years later Fast 9 coming during Eid season will shatter all boxoffice records.

Eid is also the biggest money spinner for Pakistani films as we see multiple Pakistani films releasing on Eid ul Fitr every year. This year we saw two major Pakistani films Wrong No 2 and Chhalawa raking in a combined PKR 370+ million approx. But with Fast 9 hitting next year it will be interesting to see that which Pakistani film will be able to pose a competition to Fast 9. For now couple of films have been announced for Eid ul Fitr and the buzz is quite good for those film but will they prove to be a potential threat to Fast 9 only time will tell.

Going by boxoffice history, a potential threat to Fast 9 could be a major action film or a star studded film. A Humayun Saeed starrer can pose a threat to Fast 9 but still beating Fast 9 will depend on a the content, genre and other external factors. But for now it looks like that coming Eid will be a huge bonanza for Fast 9 and many records will fall.
