While we wait for the movie which is scheduled to release next year in April, lets have a look at the Marvel movies that have been released this year.
The year started off with Black Panther which was released on 16 February 2018, starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Lupita Nyong’o. The story revolved around T’Challa’s who has to claim his place as the King of Wakanda after the death of his father. Soon he is faced with some old enemies to fight them he needs to rally his allies and ensure safety of his people. The movie has been nominated for three Golden Globes categories as well. The film made a total of 7.5 crore in Pakistan.
Then came another Marvel movie that took the cinemas by a storm. The turn out was unexpectedly very good for Avengers Infinity war in Pakistan. The movie had the whole avengers squad teamed up together to fight the most powerful enemy so far. The movie had Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Captain America, Black widow, Spider man, Black Panther and Doctor Strange to battle the evil Thanos. Thanos is determined to collect all six Infinity Stones, and use them for his twisted plans. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain. The end of the movie left the fans bewildered and now fans are eager to see how their beloved heroes will come back. Infinity War turned out to be a huge blockbuster in Pakistan grossing over 20 crores approx and becoming the third highest Hollywood grosser in Pakistani cinema history.
Ant man was another Marvel film released in July however the film didn’t do well considering that the movie was not a big brand name like Iron man or Hulk. It made approximately 1.95 crore. Dead-pool an R-rated Marvel movie was released in May. The movie had a humor angle to it as well. The movie was released during Ramadan which affected its numbers slightly however overall it made a total of approximately 4.25 crores.
Marvel films have a huge following all around the world and no matter what movie it produces, the turn out is usually great. However in Pakistan it has been noticed that it is not always the case. Avengers Infinity war was the only Marvel film and 3rd Hollywood movie to cross over 20 crore mark in Pakistan. Based on this it will not be wrong in anticipating that Avengers endgame will also draw fans to cinema.
