The movie adaption of the book The Accidental Prime Minister saw release in India on 11 January 2019. The film is based on the Indian Prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who completed two terms at the office. His tenure was from 2004-2014 .
The book was penned down by Sanjaya Baru ( who was also the media advisor of the prime minister). The film has been produced by Jayantilal Gada who was really happy about the news. According to Indian Express he expressed his immense gratitude to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chairman Censor Board. The film has been directed by Vijay Gutte.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher has essayed the role of Manmohan Singh. Akshay Khana is also seen alongside Kher. The movie has been met with conflict as there were protests along with threat of filing a lawsuit on basis of marring the reputation of the Prime Minister. The critics on the other hand have praised the film.
Earlier today it was confirmed that the film has been cleared by CBFC. The film will be distributed by HKC Entertainment and will release on January 18 in Pakistan.
