The ace director and producer of Bollywood, Karan Johar is going through bad luck recently. 2019 in particular has been a bad year for Dharma Productions. Some of Karan Johar’s most ambitious projects such as Kesari and Kalank have emerged as a huge disappointment at the boxoffice.
His third offering Student of The Year 2 opened yesterday and the film has also seen a low start on its opening day in India. The film has raked in over INR 11 crore approx on its opening day in India.
The film did manage to hit the double digit in India on its Opening day but the film’s numbers are below expectations. Tiger’s last film Baaghi 2 had opened with INR 25 crore on its opening day and this film was expected to carry the legacy of Baaghi 2 especially in the initials.
The film’s opening day numbers are also less than Tiger Shroff’s 2016 release Baaghi. At the same time opening numbers are way below all the recent films of Dharma Productions. If we compare it with the prequel of the film then this film has been a let down.
Back in 2017, Student Of The Year had collected INR 7.52 crore on its opening day from 1350 screens. Even though Student Of The Year 2 has a bigger name attached of Tiger Shroff in the cast and got a release in more than double the screens of its prequel, the film has still not be ale to perform well.
