Ali Zafar, the ultimate all-rounder of the industry
There is no doubt that our industry is filled with extremely versatile artists however there are only a few who have managed to be jack of all trades and have succeeded in all with flying colors. Especially if we have a look at the singer turned actors category, many have tried and failed.
We got a hold of a senior showbiz journalist Omair Alavi who gave us insights about the stars who have made this attempt in the past 50 years. He talked about both local and those across the border. K.L Segal and Kishore Kumar were two prominent singers who managed to give hit films in which they acted as well as sang and composed the songs, themselves.
In our industry, music legends like Arif Lohar and Ata Ullah Khan have also acted in movies but they were not a big hit. Fast forward a few years Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol starred Atif Aslam. The movie itself was a hit however his acting was mediocre. It was not praised at all. According to Omair Alavi he had potential but was not given attention whatsoever.
The Channo singer has made waves in sub-continent. He already had a good repute as a singer. He made his debut in films by bagging a Bollywood movie Teray bin Laden. He continued to grace Bollywood with his presence by signing films like ‘My brother ki dulhan’, ‘Kill dil’ and ‘Chashme Badoor’. He finally made his debut in Lollywood opposite to the lovely Maya Ali in the super hit movie of the year, Teefa in trouble.
Alavi added that with the success of Teefa in trouble, one thing can be said for sure that Ali Zafar is next big star of Pakistan. He is the only star who has not only gained popularity in music industry but has also emerged as a promising actor. We are excited to see what his next big project will be!
