Meesha Shafi recently requested Lux Style Awards’ organizers to remove the nomination of her song, “Mein” following the controversy that struck the Lux Style Awards. She shared a note on Twitter explaining why she chose to remove her song from the list of nominees. She wrote, “Mein is a song about finding our true self. Being aligned with a higher purpose. Being our own hero and being enough. I wrote it at a particularly difficult time in my life. When I needed to be all those things”

The same day, Ali Zafar shared a poem on Twitter captioned, “The Joy in writing” accompanied by the hashtags #Mein and #ego.

The poem criticized one’s ego terming it his/her “Mein” and talked about how honesty lies in a man’s silence and how time ultimately uncovers the truth. The poem largely hinted at his fight with Meesha Shafi although no one can say for sure.

Meesha Shafi has also posted a poem today and though no one can claim that this is in response to Ali Zafar, the poem does talk about how she is not here to hold grudges or engage in fights and that she seeks only her own validation.
