Love is something important that is often talked about in our society and we have seen it ever since we were children in Walt Disney cartoons and then later on in romantic movies. However, it is still very hard to explain what love’s reality is and what it means to true love. A lot of people tend to confuse the feeling of true love with a sense of clinginess and being addicted to someone else.
The first thing you have to understand is that being addicted to someone and feeling like you need someone to stay with you forever is not real love. Because Love is not selfish it always wants the best for the other person.
Love needs sacrifice and being willing to put someone else before you. This is why a lot of parents are willing to die just as long as their children survive, that is true love and it seems like it is mostly reserved from parents to child rather than vice versa.
If you would like to find true love towards someone you have to drop all expectations and stop trying to mold that person into the character you want them to be. Instead you should start accepting everyone as they are and know that the person they are is the person they need.
Many times lovers become disappointed in each other and say” I didn’t expect that from you, I’d expect it from anyone else, but not from you”. This sentence is not based on real love, because real love doesn’t have any
expectations and when you really have compassion for someone you are completely in the now, you don’t sit and think about what is going to happen in the future, you simply enjoy the moment for what it is and feel a very deep sense of happiness and satisfaction.
True compassion means just giving to others and not expecting anything in return. The paradoxical thing is that once you start giving as much as you can to others without expecting anything back, you will get ten fold back and before you know it you will be overwhelmed by positive emotions and a deep sense of gratitude. The key point here is to stop seeking and searching for something and just embracing what is.
