Equality

Equality:There was a custom in Arabia that when a man was killed it became obligatory for his family to avenge his blood. If hands could not be laid on the killer, the name of the murdered man was entered in the family register, and the obligation of revenge was discharged even a hundred years later. If the killer was dead someone from his family or tribe was killed. Similarly the demand for revenge passed on from father or son. These blood feuds were a matter of great pride in Arabia.

Likewise many other absurd customs have become a cause of national pride. Islam has obliterated all these customs of ignorance. That is why the Prophet (PBUH) said in reference to this mode of revenge, blood feuds and all false pride and privilege that “I have trampled them underfoot”.

The distinction between great and small on the basis of race, nation and family was prevalent in Arabia and entire would. The Hindus, for instance, established four castes and gave to the Shudras a station equal to that of beasts and at the same time imposed the restriction that a Shudra could not rise from the station. The greatest favor that Islam did to the whole world was to establish equality between man and woman, Arab and non Arab, noble and base, king and beggar. All are equal. Every man can rise to any eminence.

That is why the Holy Prophet (PBUH) recited the verse of the Holy Quran and explained “You are all offspring of Adam and Adam was made of clay”.

Islam is very wide and easy religion and has much relaxation for the humans it stresses upon equality and kindness with each others. All human beings are equal and there is no one greater to others. So be sympathy, kindness and give the rights to others.
