If we talk about the most famous humorist in Pakistan then only one name comes in mind and that is Dr. Muhammad Younis Butt. He has given us the ‘Family Front’: famous comedy play of 1997 which is loved by the people of all ages. He also purposed the idea of political satire shows in Pakistan through ‘Hum Sab Ummed Se Hain’.  Initially, it was written for only five episodes but due to its popularity Dr. Younis continued to write it and aired till 2015.

‘Rome weds Heer’ has already created buzz with its imposing posters and colorful song. In this drama Feroze Khan will be our Romeo and Sana Javed will be our Heer and it has been masterly directed by Anjum Shahzad. The most striking thing about this drama is its title that features the idea of the marriage of Romeo with Heer. We all are familiar with the love story of Romeo and Juliet and that’s why the title ‘Romeo weds Heer’ intrigues us.

To know the mystery behind this title and in order to know how eastern Heer will marry western Romeo, we invited Dr. Younis in our studio. “Basically, the theme that we conceptualized is revolved around the consequences of the marriage of Romeo with Heer. Both have different cultural backgrounds and also there is Ranjha for Heer and Juliet for Romeo. So, to know what will happen if two people of different cultures marry each other, in spite of the fact there is Ranjha for Heer and Juliet for Romeo. I developed this story,” said Dr. Younis. He further told us “By keeping in mind about the marriage of Romeo and Heer, we created the character of the boy whose psychic is based on Romeo and as well as created the character of the girl who is much alike to Heer. This play is based on a romantic comedy that you will enjoy very much”.

After a conversation with Dr. Younis, we are really surprised and anxiously waiting for ‘Romeo Weds Heer’ because of its distinct story-line. We must appreciate Dr. Younis for always giving us something striking and different from others. The drama has been produced by 7th Sky Entertainment and it is starting from 21st of October, 2018 every Sunday at 8 P.M.
