Allman Brothers

Allman Brothers announced Wednesday they should cancel their appearance Saturday at the intersection Guitar Festival at Toyota Park after the keyboardist-singer Gregg Allman underwent surgery.

Allman, who suffers from hepatitis C, received a liver transplant on Wednesday at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, the singer had been on the waiting list for transplantation, which had been recommended by doctors after they began to treat him for liver disease in 2007.

“I feel pretty good, considering everything that happened,” Allman said in a statement from the group. “I changed the way years ago, but we can not turn back time. Every day a gift, and I can not wait to get back on the road making music with my friends.”

Allmans place in the lineup will be filled by Derek Trucks Band with Susan Tedeschi, according to promoters Jam Productions.
